Our Story

Ocean Community was founded in 2020, by a Swedish business woman relocating to Portugal, highly influenced by the Blue Economy. Her ocean curiosity was ignited, and together with passion for enabling sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship this led to the launch of the first Ocean Community Challenge in 2020.

 

Since then, our community and programs have evolved. We are now a global community platform, for ocean caring people, innovators and entrepreneurs to connect, learn, innovate and shape our community with the ocean's best interest at heart.

We are inclusive, embracing and non-political. We base our work on science and facts based on validated data and in alignment with the UN sustainable development goals. We are driven by our passion for a continued happy and healthy life for humans on Planet Blue.

We anchored in Portugal as a Portuguese legal non-profit Associacao Ambiental, NIPC 516.014.374, operating under EU law.

Individuals are welcome as Community Friends, paying Community Members (€12/year) or as Associate Members with voting rights at our Assembly Meetings. Donations are also welcome.

Businesses and Institutions that share our cause, are welcome as Partners & Associates to influence and support Ocean Community outreach, operations, knowledge- and open innovation programs.
