A core initiative under our OC Plan Innovate programme. The Baltic Sea Challenge will open for submissions beginning 2027 to identify and advance solutions that protect and restore the Baltic and North Seas.

Cecilia Hjertzell
Nordic Chair

As Nordic Chair, Cecilia Hjertzell leads Ocean Community's strategic engagement across the Nordic region, building partnerships that connect industry, entrepreneurs, investors, academia and the public sector to accelerate ocean innovation. An entrepreneur, board leader and business strategist, she has extensive experience in digital infrastructure, energy systems and sustainable business development. Cecilia has led strategic initiatives across technology-driven industries, helping organisations navigate transformation, strengthen governance and create long-term value. She brings commercial insight, cross-sector leadership and a strong Nordic network to advance Ocean Community's mission and regional impact.
Founder & Executive President
Susanne Wedin-Schildt

As Executive President, Susanne Wedin Schildt leads Ocean Community's global strategy, international development and strategic partnerships. With more than 35 years of international leadership experience spanning over 25 countries, she has worked across business, government, academia and innovation ecosystems to drive transformation, build strategic collaborations and accelerate sustainable growth. Her expertise in business transformation, innovation and venture development enables her to connect people, organisations and opportunities across sectors and borders. Through Ocean Community, Susanne is building a global platform that brings together leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and partners to advance a regenerative and resilient ocean economy.
Innovate Program Director
Rimmie Duraisamy

As Innovate Programme Director, Rimmie Duraisamy leads initiatives that help ocean innovators strengthen solutions, validate opportunities and progress towards implementation. A mechanical engineer and ocean energy specialist, she brings experience across the automotive sector, advanced engineering and early-stage venture development. Rimmie is currently completing a PhD at KTH Royal Institute of Technology focused on design and development challenges in wave energy harvesting systems. She combines technical depth, entrepreneurial experience and programme leadership to support ocean innovators from concept to implementation.
